Alex Haley was recognized at a special luncheon by the Congressional Black Caucus ("CBC") in June 1977 due to the success of the "Roots" book and miniseries, prior to the event, he met (2nd right) with history-making CBC members (L - R): Rep. Louis Stokes (Ohio's first African American elected to Congress); track icon & Berlin '36 Olympic hero, Rep. Ralph Metcalf; the legendary Rep.
